About the MIT-Lemelson Program
The Lemelson-MIT Program celebrates those inventors who have turned their ideas into
accomplishments. We foster an enthusiasm for asking—and answering—the questions that
change lives. The Program was established in 1994 at the nation's premier technological
university, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, by one of the world's most prolific
inventors, Jerome Lemelson (1923-1997), and his wife, Dorothy. It is funded by the Lemelson
