Technical Operations/Software Quality Assurance Specialist

As a QA engineer at Valora, you will participate in the full life cycle of software quality assurance, including test planning, design, review and execution. You will maintain a working knowledge of existing product functionality and stay abreast of future product plans. You will work closely with development engineers and product management as well as our internal customers in the production and technical operations departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans and automated test procedures to perform all aspects of software verification, including functional, structural, regression, load, and system testing
  • Perform ad hoc and exploratory testing beyond pre-existing test cases
  • Research and isolate software defects and write clear and concise defect reports including steps to consistently reproduce findings
  • Identify incomplete or inadequate test cases
  • Maintain and update the defect and enhancement tracking database, verifying that issues are successfully resolved
  • Communicate results and analysis to software developers
  • Make recommendations for improving the software, the processes in which it is used, and the software development process itself
  • Help identify testing tools and protocols, maintain the testing environment, provide feedback and recommendations related to current testing methods and generally support the process to improve software quality
  • Proactively provide schedules, status reports, and metrics to management on a regular basis
  • Provide second line support to internal technical operations department
  • Requirements:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years experience in software quality assurance, developing and managing test cases, test plans and testing suites
  • Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript and Windows batch files
  • Experience with the Windows operating system
  • Understanding of sound QA theory and development methodology
  • Good organizational, analytic, problem solving, multi-tasking and technical skills
  • A positive, proactive attitude, enthusiasm for new challenges, and team orientation
  • Ability to communicate easily in written and spoken English and perform well in a stressful environment
  • Self-motivation with a proven track record of achieving goals and meeting milestones coupled with an ability to work both collaboratively and individually under limited supervision


  • Only local (MA/NH) candidates with US citizenship and the ability to qualify for low-level federal security clearance will be considered for this position (includes criminal, credit, and employment background checks and seven year residency disclosure).
