How does Valora's pricing work?
Valora's services are priced as per-document and per-page fees, based on volume and required fields. In general per-document fields, such as bibliographic information, are provided at a per-document price, while in-content fields, such as mentioned names, are provided at a per-page price, along with document boundary determination (unitization) and OCR. For estimating purposes, Valora uses the industry-standard metrics of four pages/document, 2,200 pages per box, 10,000 images per CD and 70,000 images per Gigabyte of electronic files.

Can I supply my own OCR?
Yes, you can. Valora's systems are not dependent on any one type of OCR and we support output from all the major litigation support scanning programs (Law, IPRO, Doculex, Abbyy, OmniPage and many others).

Can you supply OCR for us? Can you supply scanning for us?
Yes, we can. Valora often scans and OCRs images on behalf of our clients. For scanning, we work with dedicated partners in your particular city. OCR is run at our Burlington, MA headquarters. As of 1/1/2006, Valora can OCR up to 80,000 pages per day. Valora supports both standard (text) and positional OCR output.

Will you support my Coding Manual? Can you supply a Coding Manual?
Yes, we will. Valora is prepared to work with our customers' coding manuals or supply one of our own as a starting template. In addition to the Coding Manual, Valora keeps a detailed Decision Log for each project, which outlines decisions made along the way and indicates who made each decision and why.

How do you handle highly confidential case documents?
Valora understands the need for confidentiality and non-disclosure in all litigation matters. We have strict confidentiality, privacy, and data security policies to protect your clients from risk and exposure. All our staff undergo comprehensive security checks and have signed non-disclosure agreements, which remain in effect even after they leave the company. We routinely sign court orders and other confidentiality measures to uphold our policies.

In what format does Valora need data sent for processing?
Images should be supplied to Valora as single-page, Group IV TIFF files along with a load file indicating the Bates number that corresponds to each image file and the location of physical document boundaries. Some common formats for such load files include IPRO LFP and Opticon. Document text should be supplied as single-page ASCII text files matching the image files. But don't worry if you don't have this format. Valora can convert images from other formats to Group IV TIFF and from multi-page to single-page. We can even create a load file for you, although it will obviously not contain your physical document boundaries. Image conversion and load file creation incur additional hourly consulting or per-page charges.

Will you do file conversion for us?
Yes, we will. Most file conversion is done at our Burlington, MA headquarters. Obscure file types or exceptionally high volume is sometimes handled by one of our dedicated partners. We also accept already converted files from many sources, such as Z-Print.

How do you handle load files?
Valora supports all major litigation support and database output formats. We will test load files per the software specifications prior to shipping data back to you. We can and do support multiple file formats per the same matter, if needed. Just let us know if there is something unusual about your preferred load file treatment.

What is your output capacity? How fast can you turn 100,000 pages?
Valora is always investing in increasing our throughput and output capacity. As of 1/1/2006, we are processing ~1.2 million pages per week, in all. We typically dedicate up to ¼ of our processing to any one large-scale project, but we can increase capacity for rush jobs and very large-scale productions as needed. We also offer a rush service, which can reduce total turnaround time by 30-40%. A normal 100,000 page project is completed in about a week and a rush 100,000 page project is completed in 3-4 days.
